9:30am Phonics and English on Zoom
Today is our last day learning online! I cannot wait for us all to be back in class next week. Today in our Zoom we are going to continue exploring all of the different ways we can spell the /igh/ sound in a word.
I loved all of the rhyming sentences you sent me on Wednesday. Today we are going to think about creating our own rhyming book. You will need to choose your favourite animals and draw a picture of them sitting on the thing that rhymes with them. There is a book template here you can print off you can just use some paper at home.

Please remember to use Miss Clayton's Zoom code this morning.
9.30am Science on Zoom
We have been learning about 5 main animal groups - mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
Can you tell me the name of at least one animal in each of those 5 groups? For an extra challenge, can you explain how you know?
You might want to set your work out like I did, you could just draw the animals and label them or you could talk to a grown-up and tell them the name of an animal from each group.
If you would like to do some more work about animals, you could use these links to watch some videos and play some games:

Guided Reading - Independent
We have read the story 'Grumpy Monkey' together in class a few times now. I know lots of you enjoy it a lot! If you would like to listen to the story again, you can by clicking on the video below.
In the story, Jim meets lots of helpful animals who suggest ways to cheer him up. Jim meets mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians but he doesn't meet any fish.
Can you think of a type of fish and something they might suggest Jim does to cheer himself up? I would like you to write a sentence but if that's too tricky you might just tell a grown-up your idea.
A salmon might tell Jim to swim upstream. A clownfish might tell Jim to tell some jokes. A blue tang might tell Jim to 'just keep swimming!'. What do you think a shark might suggest?
PE - Independent
Getting active is really important! It will help you if you are feeling a bit grumpy, like Jim.
While we're at home, you might want to try one or all of these videos. Remember to make sure you are in a safe space before you start.

9:30am Phonics and English on Zoom
Today we will continue looking at all of the different ways we can spell /igh/ in words. Don't forget that https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/ has loads of great games you can play too!
I loved all of your rhyming work in English about 'Oi Dog!', it is such a fun story to read to you all. Today I want you to find some rhyming words for different animals to sit on. It would be good to try and write these words in a sentence but you could just say them with an adult if that is easier for you. Don't forget that this video is here to help you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uldum2bSFlU

9:30am Phonics and English on Zoom
Today in Phonics we are going to be looking at the different ways we can spell the /igh/ sound. In English we are going to be looking at some of our favourite stories...we are going to do some rhyming work by looking at 'Oi Dog!'. In case you want to listen to the story again then here is a video you can watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uldum2bSFlU
Can you think of some words that rhyme with 'Frog', 'Cat' and 'Sing'?
Maths- Independent
Whilst we are isolating, I thought it would be a great time to recap some of the work we have already done. (The original plan was to do this at the end of the Summer Term but I feel now is ideal whilst we are all at home!).
Today we are recapping shapes. There is a video to watch and then some activities to try. You might prefer to go on a shape hunt at home and look for all of the different shapes you can find!

English: The Red Book
Now we have thought about how we will travel to our new land, can you try and draw the pictures? It would be really good if you could write the sentences to match! I have attached a page like I would have printed in school for you to write on but you could easily draw some lines on a piece of paper at home!
It can be quite tricky learning from home. If you feel you have forgotten the story or are finding this a bit tricky then why not make up your own story!
Maths
If we were all in school, we would been using lots of resources and snacks to add equal groups! Can you look at the activity below and answer the questions? You could make some equal groups with your toys and try label and add them up.
Make sure you read your book and look at your orange sound book! Don't forget that https://phonicsplaycomics.co.uk/comics.html is a great website if you fancy reading something different.

What sad news that we are now at home for a few days.
Whilst we aren't altogether in class, can you try these activities? You can email me any pictures of what you get up or if you have any questions to ask- cwalsh@holyfamilyleeds.co.uk
Phonics
In class on Monday and Tuesday, we started looking at all of the different ways you can spell the /ee/ sound. I know some of you even tried the challenge I left out. Today I would really like it if you can have a read of this and find any of the different ways you can spell /ee/.
Your next job it to try and write a few silly sentences using some of these /ee/ words.
donkey
chimney
chief
meat
seat
Granny
Seaside
funny
I think I would write...
My Granny had some funny meat at the seaside!
Maths
Can you check out the video in the above link? Then can you try answer these questions?
Yesterday in class we continued looking at the words 'equal' and 'unequal' and you all did a fantastic job. Today's video is to help you continue with this work.
