The Ark
The Ark offers carefully planned, continuous provision where children can develop their speech and communication, sensory regulation and physical skills in a calm, nurturing environment. Learning takes place throughout the day in purposeful 30-minute chunks, allowing children to engage at a pace that meets their individual needs. All pupils who access The Ark take part in Bucket Time, supported by experienced staff to develop attention, listening and shared engagement. Our Speech and Language Therapist, Miss Watson, works closely with both children and staff in the provision, ensuring strategies are consistent and effective. The Ark’s provision is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the interests and needs of the children, helping every learner to thrive.
The Ark includes a range of carefully planned areas that support children’s learning and development through play and exploration. These include water and sand areas to encourage sensory exploration and fine motor control, sensory tiles and a ball pit to support regulation, balance and body awareness, and dedicated spaces for developing gross and fine motor skills. Children can explore small world and role play areas to build imagination, communication and social skills, while the instruments area encourages listening, turn-taking and self-expression through sound and rhythm. Each area is designed to be engaging and purposeful, helping children develop key skills in a way that is meaningful and enjoyable.
