Whole School Catholic Life and Mission
Thursday 26th October - Rosary Prayer Bags
During the month of October, we take the time to think about Mary and the Rosary. The Rosary tells us about the life of Jesus’ in four parts:
- The Joyful Mysteries
- The Sorrowful Mysteries
- The Glorious Mysteries
- The Luminous Mysteries
Each time we pray the rosary we should focus on Jesus’ life as well as a special person that we want to pray for.
Hail Mary Prayer
Hail Mary full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now and
at the hour of our death
Amen.
Friday 20th October - Light up our Church
For the last couple of weeks, we have been raising money to buy Father Neil some new lights for Holy Family Church. These lights are very special because they are energy efficient light bulbs which means they use less electricity. We have been selling light bulbs for 50p each and today we 'lit up' our school hall with all the donations we received.
We raised £150.00 altogether! Thank you for your amazing generosity.
Thursday 12th October - Harvest Donations
Thank you so much to all of our families for their amazing and generous donations! Maddie and Samuele helped Mrs Angstmann sort out all of the food, ready to take to St Anne's Resource Centre in Leeds City Centre.
Wednesday 4th October - Harvest Festival
Maddie and Samuele (two of our Mini-Vinnies) led us in a liturgy today all about the harvest festival. They asked us to be as generous as we can and help by donating tins and packets of food for those who aren't as lucky as we are.
Friday 29th September - Holy Family Prayer Bags
During the month of September, we take the time to think about the Holy Family and our own families. We have been thanking God for the amazing families we have and how lucky we are.
Dear God,
Thank you for my home and all of my family. Thank you for the love you give to each one of us, so we can share it with others. Help us to live a happy life. Amen
Wednesday 13th September - Welcome Back Mass
We walked down to church with our buddies and celebrated our first whole school Mass of the year.
Our Mass was about 'Sharing the Light of Jesus' throughout this year. Father Neil told us that we may have some challenges through the year but we have to remember to persevere with anything that comes our way.
Thank you to Year 6 who led our Mass and read beautifully!
Friday 26th May - Mary Prayer Bags
During the month of May, each class has been taking home a 'Mary Our Mother' prayer bag to reflect on Mary's life and how special she is.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death
Amen
Thursday 18th May - Feast of the Ascension Liturgy
Our First Holy Communion children led our Ascension Liturgy this morning with very thought-provoking prayers and reflections.
Thursday 6th April - Lenten Prayer Bags
During Lent, each class has being taking home our Lenten Prayer Bags and reflecting on the importance of Lent and the Stations of the Cross.
Some children even wrote their own Lenten Prayers.
Dear Jesus,
You loved us so much that you gave up your life for us. Help us to give our love to others. We know that if we are kind to those around us, then we are being kind to you.
Today, we take with us our cross to remind us of all those in need around the world. Let us never forget them. Amen
Thursday 6th April - Maundy Thursday Liturgy
Today, we reflected on Holy Week and remembered the importance of Maundy Thursday.
We learnt how Jesus served his disciples the day before he died on the cross and why this is significant today. Jesus wanted us to go into the world and serve others the way he did.
Thursday 6th April - Easter Egg Raffle
Throughout Lent, we have been raising money for charity in a variety of ways. One way was by raffling Easter Eggs.
Thank you to our parents for all their donations during Lent!
Weekly (during Lent) - Stations of the Cross
Throughout Lent, we will be visiting the Stations of the Cross with our staff, parents and children.
22nd February - Ash Wednesday Mass
Today, Year 5 led our Ash Wednesday Mass with Holy Family Parish.
We learnt about the importance of Ash Wednesday and how it is a time for us to say sorry for the mistakes we have made.
6th January - Epiphany Liturgy
We celebrated the Epiphany today. In the morning, Year 4 led an Epiphany Liturgy explaining the long journey the Three Wise Men went on before they arrived where the baby Jesus had been born. We processed around our school and our prayer garden whilst the choir sang 'We three kings' beautifully. In the afternoon, we celebrated in classes and had some Epiphany parties.
Christmas Hampers
During the festive season, we discussed how we can support those around us as a school community. We asked staff and pupils to donate items such as: chocolate, fragrance gifts, Christmas mugs and Christmas activity books so that we could create class hampers and raffle them off to raise money for those less fortunate.
We were amazed and extremely appreciative of all the items we were gifted and want to say a special thank you to all of our parents, pupils and staff!
Thank you to our wonderful HOFFs for putting together all the hampers.
24th December - Christmas Eve Carol Service in Church
Our families and parish came together to celebrate Christmas Eve Mass. Before Mass, children from the Holy Family Parish led us in a carol service to retell the story of Jesus' birth.
20th December - Christmas Carol Service
Today, we celebrated Christmas together by singing Carols and retelling the story of Jesus' birth.
Harvest Festival
Mrs Angstmann volunteers at St Anne's Resource Centre in Leeds City Centre so we decided to collect food for the homeless. Below is just some of the food we collected:
Supporting our Community at Christmas
